Dark Web
The “dark web” refers to parts of the internet only accessible through encryption software like Tor. The dark web provides high anonymity for users since it operates on encrypted networks.
While not inherently related, some illegal activities have taken place using cryptocurrencies on the dark web due to cryptos’ pseudo-anonymity. This includes buying/selling of illegal goods and services.
However, important to remember crypto itself is not illegal – the vast majority of crypto users and transactions are entirely legitimate. Connecting crypto and dark web risks giving an inaccurate impression since most cryptocurrency activity is open, transparent and legal.
